I remember madness around Mortal Kombat in Russia... It was in early 90s, there were very little number of home consoles. Some skilful businessmans bought 2-3 Sega Genesis, rented places in markets and start taking money for every 10 minutes of playing in MK. :) We collect money every week and at the weekend spend them all on some hours of playing in Mortal Kombat. And these minutes of playing was our biggest pleasure. Still remember that days. :D

Sorry for my poor english. :)

What are they getting for the $33 million? Besides Mortal Kombat--which still has legs--what other IP do they have that could be mined? It will take a lot to resurrect stuff like Spy Hunter, so that is heavily discounted.

Weird that Midway Games went under. They were once one of the biggest out there, and you'd think something like Mortal Kombat would keep them around.

The Midway deal shows that Hollywood studios see the value of the game business. The profits in games can be huge.
